Khagrachari Sector was raised on 01 December 1990. It was the largest Border Guard Battalion Sector comprising of six battalions location at Ramgarh, Khedachara, Jaminipara, Panchari, Marishya and Khagrachari.
On 04 Apr 2013 splitting Khagrachari Sector a new Sector came up namely Guimara Sector with Ramgarh, Khedachara and Jaminipara as under command units. On the other hand on 18 May and 29 Sep 2013 two more unit namely 51 Border Guard Battalion and 54 Border Guard Battalion were raised respectively under the Order of Battle of Khagrachari Sector. As such now Khagrachari Sector is having 5 Border Guarder Battalions covering 209 km of border starting from Main Pillar 2262 to Main Pillar 2325 with 06 Border Operation Post, 14 Counter Interagency Operation Camps and 01 Post. This no will increase when 51 and 54 Border Guard Battalion will start functioning with their own Border Operation Post/Camps. At that time Khagrachari Sector will have 35 Border Operation Post (BOP), 06 Counter Interagency Operation (CIO) Camps and 1 Post. Presently, out of 209 km of border 126 km is unguarded from Main Pillar 2270 to Main Pillar 2309. However with functioning of 51 & 54 Border Guard Battalion Khagrachri Sector will not have any unguarded border.
