33 Border Guard Battalion was raised on 26 March 1988 at Peelkhana, Dhaka. Since birth this battalion is performing it's duty like border protection, antismuggling operation, In Aid to the Civil power duty and counter insurgency operation. This unit did not participate in Border Guard Bangladesh incident which took place on25-26 Febuary 2009. This Battalion has a very historic role to fight gallantly against Border Security Forces on 18 April 2001 to20 April 2001 at Baraibari of Jamalpur district and sacrificed 3 brave lives :

b.No-55944 Sepoy Md. Mahafuzar Rahaman.
c.No-48985 Sepoy Abdul Qader.
On the other hand, counterpart Border Security Forces lost 16 persons in that brief encounter. The battalion was champion in anti smuggling operation for two times in the years 2010 and 2011 while it was runner up in 2008 and 2012. 33 Border Guard Battalion served with pride in various corner of Bangladesh :
