GENERAL INFORMATION OF 32 BORDER GUARD BATTALION

32 Border Guard Battalion was raised on 25th January 1982 at Mymensingh Sector Headquarter. Immediately after raising, the Battalion move to Dinajpur Sector  to take over the responsibility of Phulbari border. After successful completion of almost 04 years tenure at Phulbari, the unit then move to Barkal to under take Counter Insurgency Operation Operation posts of Rangamati Sector. While Observation Post  in Barkal, in the year 1987,   02 x Junior Commission Officer and 09 x Other Ranks of this bn embraced ‘Shahadat’ during an armed encounter with Shantibhahini. On completion of Counter Insurgency Operation duties at Barkal on 11 November 1988 the unit move to Brahmanbaria to under take border Operation Posts of Comilla Sector. After 06 years stay at Brahmanbaria, the unit move to Panchhari area and came under Khagrachari Sectore in 1994. Thereafter serving a 2nd tenure in Counter Insurgency Operation  at Khagrachari, the Battalion was again reloc to take care of the responsible of the Jessore border on 17 September 1997, which  used to be known as the most smuggling prone area of the country. It was at Jessore that the unit made a rmark history by winning the “Anti Smuggling Drive Trophy” permanently by making highest  seizure for consecutive four times i.e in the year 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001. Thereafter, the Battalion was again relocation at Marishya Zone (from 25 Border Guard Battalion) on 05 November 2002.  At Marishya the unit still achieved 1st posn in Anti Smuggling Operation Post amongst the less smuggling prone areas in the year 2003. It may be mentioned here that for outstanding performance at this location, 3 X Junior Commission Operation of this battalion were awarded by Director General Border Guard Bangladesh. During the same tenure while op under’’ Op Uttaran’’ on 03 January 2005, September Shajahan of this unit embraced ‘Shahadat’ in an armed encounter with the miscreants. For heroic performance, he was later awarded "Bangladesh Border Guards Medal’’ in 2005. Finally, the Battalion was relocation at the present location under Kushtia Sector and  took over the responsible from 9 Border Guard Battalion on 30 May 2006.
