GENERAL INFORMATION OF 20 BORDER GUARD BATTALION

1.       20 Border Guard Battalion was raised on 27 December 1975 at JAMALPUR under MYMENSINGH Sector. This Battalion served with pride in various corners of Bangladesh :

2.       Presently the Battalion is deployed in Chittagong Hill Tracks and looking after Lougang Zone, Panchari. Besides, regular border protection duties 20 Border Guard Battalion is performing duties in "Operation Uttaran" :

         

a.       In Aid to The Civil Power:

(1)     Assist civil administration in maintaining law and order.

(2)     Assist the government and other agencies in implementation of the Peace Accord.

 

(3)     Assist local auth/population in socio-economic development of the area.

 

(4)     Protect KPIs and other government properties from sabotage.

                   


 

b.       Military Operation Related.

(1)     Seek and neutralize armed groups/parties obstructing peace in the AOR.

(2)     Organize and coordinate all intelligence activities in the AOR.

(3)     Counter any anti-state activities in the AOR.

(4)     Secure Main Supply Route within AOR.

(5)     Protect vulnerable groups of the population from any riotous situation / communal riot.

 

c.       Socio-Economic Development.

(1)     Carry out pacification within the resources available.

(2)     Ensure protection of natural resources from unauthorized extraction/destruction.

(3)     Identify and destroy standing and processed drugs i.e. hashish, opium etc within AOR.

(4)     Be prepare to undertake any other tasks.
